Seira and Coop57 renew their agreement to offer a financing line for Catalan cooperatives

Thanks to this initiative, Coop57 has granted a total of 117 loans amounting to 4.8 million euros since 2020.

Fundació Seira, a leading organisation in social and cooperative finance, and Coop57, the ethical and solidarity‑based financial services cooperative, have renewed their collaboration agreement—an initiative that over the past four years has enabled the creation of a financing line to meet the liquidity needs of Catalan cooperatives. Since 2020, the agreement has led Coop57 to grant 117 loans worth 4.8 million euros to Catalan cooperatives.

Through the agreement, which began in 2020, Coop57 made available a 2‑million‑euro financing line. Catalan cooperatives—especially worker cooperatives—that are members of Coop57 and are federated or intend to become federated may access this financing. The line offers two products: credit lines and liquidity loans.

Continuation of the agreement

Beyond the context of the Covid‑19 pandemic, which motivated the signing of the initial agreement, both organisations have committed to updating the initiative with several changes and improvements. Among the proposals are:

  • Extending the agreement until 31 March 2026.
  • Expanding the treasury loan modality by incorporating the concept of long‑term loans, enabling cooperatives to finance investment needs.
  • Reducing the minimum loan amount from 20,000 euros to 10,000 euros, in order to meet the needs of smaller cooperatives that previously could not access this financing line.
  • Extending the maximum loan term from the current 3 years to 6 years.
  • Expanding eligible beneficiaries to include social and solidarity economy organisations that are members of the XES (Catalan Solidarity Economy Network).
