Carbón Vivo – LinvingChar is a non-profit cooperative that helps people and organizations preserve, regenerate and improve the soil, thus contributing to the fight against climate change.
They produce and sell fertilizers and substrates made with biochar. This material is an organic carbon; it’s like a sponge that retains water and nutrients, boosting the life of microorganisms in the soil. Beyond improving soil fertility, this product helps capture CO2 instead of releasing it.
The project was launched in 2018 because of the need of the worker-owners to align their values with their professional activities.
Currently, they are two worker-owners and collaborate with other cooperatives such as Ramaders de Juncosa.
Their value proposal is twofold: on the one hand, being a non-profit cooperative makes it possible for them to maximize their contribution to the fight against climate change instead of pursuing profit, and on the other, they make organic origin produce, with a positive impact on the climate.
